Practicing mindfulness being focused on the present moment not only calms your mind but can also improve your physical health as well. While taking 15-20 minutes a day to just sit somewhere quiet and breathe can help you refocus and reduce stress. Being present in the moment on purpose and without judgement you can change your entire perspective on the day.

You can start to see changes in your mental health almost immediately. Stress reduction, decreased anxiety, emotional regulation, improved depression and sleep, as well as better focus and concentration. Regularly practicing mindfulness improves attention span, proving beneficial for all aspects of your life.
Some of the physical changes and improvements you can see are lower blood pressure and reducing pain. Crazy as it sounds, the positive impact that mindfulness has on the immune system allows the body to fight off infection and illness more effectively. Also cognitive function and memory decline with aging can even be slowed down.
Most importantly, mindfulness increases self-awareness and greater acceptance of oneself. This in turn improves all your relationships because of your better emotional regulation and communication skills.
